What is a Complete Blood Health Profile?

Discover potential issues before they escalate with our Blood Health Profile. This test gives 10 key readings to help assess blood health and immunity. Readings include red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.

As part of an overall health assessment, the Blood Health Profile can help identify potential health risks that may indicate underlying health concerns. Armed with precise data from your Blood Health Profile, you can create a wellness plan that addresses your specific needs. Whether it's optimising nutrition or adopting lifestyle changes, a Blood Health profile is an important part of health screening and is available within some health check packages or can be booked as an individual test.

Your Results Explained in Detail

Your Results Report (available online and through the post) explains each one of your test results in detail, with no confusing medical jargon. You’ll receive the actual reading for every test we've run, with each result given a 'flag' of green, amber or red.

Green results are within the recommended range for your age and sex; amber results are slightly outside what we'd normally expect; and red results are further outside the norm.

Where a result is amber or red, we'll give follow up advice on what to do next - whether that's making lifestyle changes, simply monitoring the result, or visiting a specialist for further investigation.

FAQs

Blood tests can provide some indications that may suggest the presence of cancer, but they are not typically used as standalone diagnostic tools for cancer. Certain markers in the blood, known as tumour markers, may be elevated in the presence of certain cancers. However, it's important to note that elevated levels of these markers can be caused by factors other than cancer, such as inflammation or benign conditions. So, while blood tests may raise suspicions and guide further investigations, they cannot definitively diagnose cancer.

All of our tests are carried out in-person by trained health assessment specialists in one of our 350 venues across the UK and Ireland. An in-person test guarantees the accuracy of your test results and enables us to get your samples to the laboratory for testing quickly, giving you your results faster.

Many routine blood tests are already included in our complete private health checks. Individual blood tests can also be added as an extra test to any individual health package. Call free on 0800 652 2183 before your appointment to speak to one of our team.

Your blood samples and other readings will be analysed by one of the leading laboratories in the UK with which we have established partnerships. Once they have analysed your samples and readings, your test results are sent securely to our in-house Results team, who compile your personalised Results Report.

Full preparation instructions will be provided in writing when you book your appointment.

Your results will be available 24/7 through our online dashboard, My Wellness. You will receive an email notification as soon as your results are ready for viewing. Processing times vary by test, with some results accessible on the dashboard in as little as three days. The online dashboard also provides easy access to a downloadable PDF, making it simple to share your results with your GP.

Each one of your test results is explained in detail and given a flag of red, amber, or green - this allows you to see any areas of concern easily at a glance.

A blood test provides insights into various aspects of your health, including:

  • Red and white blood cell counts
  • Platelet levels
  • Blood sugar (glucose) for diabetes management
  • Electrolyte balance (sodium, potassium, calcium)
  • Kidney and liver function markers
  • Cholesterol levels for heart health
  • Thyroid function
  • Inflammatory markers
  • Specific disease markers (e.g., PSA for prostate health)

Blood tests are generally suitable for everyone looking to monitor their health and gain valuable insights into various aspects of their wellbeing. These tests cover a range of parameters, providing information on factors like blood cell counts, glucose levels, electrolyte balance, and more.

The procedure for blood tests is routine and involves a simple blood draw with minimal associated risks. Whether you have specific health concerns, want to assess your overall wellbeing, or require regular health check-ups, private blood tests offer a personalised and comprehensive approach to understanding and managing your health.

Your test results and other readings will each be given a ‘flag’ of a different colour: green, amber or red. Green results are within the recommended range for your age and sex; amber results are slightly outside what we'd normally expect; and red results are further outside the norm.

Where a result is amber or red, we'll give follow up advice on what to do next - whether that's making lifestyle changes, simply monitoring the result, or visiting your GP for further investigation.

If there are any critical results discovered by our laboratory, we will contact you immediately, so you won’t need to wait for your full results report to arrive to take appropriate action.
