Exclusions and Advice

As a responsible health assessment company, Bluecrest will apply certain exclusions, restrictions and advice based on the recommendations of our Chief Medical Officer. This will include where we believe elements of our service or specific tests would not support good customer care, be appropriate, or where we can minimise the risk of unnecessary worry for the individuals using our service. Test availability and the removal of tests is managed by our Chief Medical Officer and is subject to change as medical opinion and knowledge evolves over time.

Age restrictions

Under 18 years of age

Our services are designed for adults (18 years or over). We are therefore unable to offer health assessments to anyone under the age of 18.

New Customers Over 88 years of age

We apply an upper age limit to support customer safety and wellbeing. Health assessments are not available to new customers over 88 years of age. This is due to the increased prevalence of certain diseases which could mean that a health assessment may not be safe or appropriate for them and results provided may cause unnecessary worry.

Pregnancy and childbirth

We are unable to carry out a health assessment if you are pregnant. There are significant physical changes during pregnancy, and results from a health assessment would not be accurate. If you have any health concerns while pregnant, please contact your GP or midwife.

If you have recently given birth you will need to wait until 3 months after giving birth to attend an assessment.

Physical Impairment

Our in-clinic health assessments are not suitable if you are unable to either:

  • Stand unaided
  • Get on and off a medical bed unaided

This is because some elements of our service require you to either be lying down on a medical bed or to be standing for a period of time; for example, the peripheral arterial disease ( PAD ) test, the step test, the ECG, and the biometric analysis.

If you have difficulties with movement or if you have a condition which causes any involuntary movement, spasm or tic, there will be some testing which may be unsuitable for you on the day, so please raise this with our Customer Service team.

Further restrictions and specific testing advice

We want our customers to feel empowered after a Bluecrest health assessment, which is why we have guidelines on the tests we provide. The above is not an exhaustive list; there are also guidelines for customers with pacemakers, anyone who has recently had surgery and other concerns. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Services team.

Lung Function Test We are unable to perform this test on customers with a very high blood pressure, or those who have experienced a recent heart attack, stroke, pneumothorax and those customers with aneurysms or undergone recent head or neck surgery.

PAD (peripheral arterial disease test) The test involves a tight cuff around your limbs and therefore customers with oedema, varicose veins on both legs or suffered a deep vein thrombosis within three months should not undergo this test

Venepuncture If you have had lymph nodes from your axilla (underarm) removed or an arteriovenous fistula, we will take blood from your other arm. If you have had nodes removed from both sides, we ask you to speak to your specialist ahead of the health assessment team and gain further advice in regard to having a blood sample taken.

Biometric test Infection control is important and therefore we are unable to perform this test if you have any open wounds on the soles of your feet. The test involves sending a small electrical impulse through your body, the biometric assessment should not be undertaken on any customer with an electrical implanted device such as a pacemaker or an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD).

We want our customers to feel empowered after a Bluecrest health assessment, which is why we have guidelines on the tests we provide. The above is not an exhaustive list and we encourage you to discuss any concerns at the time of booking.
