Understanding health assessments

A health assessment serves as a comprehensive tool to not only detect existing health conditions and risk factors for disease development but also evaluate the functionality of various bodily systems. By undergoing a health assessment, subtle signs of dysfunction within the body can be identified promptly, allowing for early diagnosis and timely intervention.

Our Full Body Health Assessments evaluate lung, kidney and liver function, plus heart and lung health. These assessments also include blood tests for cholesterol, diabetes (HbA1c blood test), protein, iron and more. In addition, the risk of developing certain health conditions such as heart disease, stroke and diabetes is also analysed.

Undergoing regular health assessments is an important way to keep tabs on your health, ensuring that any issues are detected early. Once you have received your personalised Bluecrest Results Report, you can then make the necessary diet and lifestyle changes needed to improve and take ownership of your health.

What should a health assessment include?

A Health Assessment should provide a thorough overview of your health, checking for the normal function of the body’s systems and looking for signs of disease or health issues. In order to accurately evaluate your health and wellbeing, a variety of important blood tests and checks should be carried out. Health assessments should typically include:

  • Blood Pressure Test
  • ECG Test
  • Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) Test
  • Kidney Function Test
  • Essential Proteins and Iron Blood Test
  • Bone Health, Energy and Muscles Blood Test
  • Lung Function Check for COPD
  • Body Composition Scan
  • Heart Disease and Stroke Risk Check
  • Liver Function Blood Test
  • Cholesterol Blood Test
  • Advanced Diabetes Test

Benefits of health assessments

Health assessments provide valuable insights into your overall health and wellbeing, guiding you toward necessary actions if required. Through various comprehensive tests and checks, they offer a detailed snapshot of your bodily functions, allowing for a holistic assessment. Undergoing regular health assessments are highly beneficial for several reasons:

  • Family medical history: awareness of any chronic diseases or hereditary conditions within your family can highlight potential health risks you may face.

  • Personalised health assessment: tailored to address your specific health concerns, a comprehensive health checkup ensures a focused examination of your individual health profile.

  • Early detection: regular testing facilitates the early identification of health conditions, enabling prompt intervention and treatment to mitigate potential risks.

  • Make lifestyle changes: by pinpointing areas for improvement in your health, your results empower you to make informed dietary and lifestyle adjustments, promoting better health outcomes and reducing disease susceptibility.

  • Gateway to further evaluation: should any health issues be uncovered, a health assessment serves as an initial step towards additional investigations and testing to delve deeper into any concerns.

  • Quick treatment: if a health condition is detected, a health assessment serves as an initial step towards additional investigations and testing to delve deeper into any concerns.

  • Peace of mind: regular health assessments offer reassurance that you're proactively managing your health, providing a sense of confidence and empowerment in your wellbeing journey.

Types of health assessments

The human body is intricately designed, comprising numerous interconnected components. Various medical assessments are tailored to evaluate the functioning of these components, addressing diverse aspects of health.

Depending on the circumstances, either a full body health assessment may be necessary to evaluate an individual's overall health and wellbeing, or a targeted check up may suffice to address specific concerns.

Here are the private health assessments offered by Bluecrest:

Full Health Assessment

Our general health check up, also known as a Health MOT, checks your lung, kidney and liver function and heart and lung health, together with tests for cholesterol, diabetes (HbA1c blood test), protein, iron and more.

Female Cancer Risk

A Female Cancer Risk check assesses your risk for developing the most common cancers occurring in females. This completely non-invasive check includes urinalysis, HPV detection, cervical cancer risk, bowel cancer, stomach cancer and evaluating markers for general health. Designed not to cause unnecessary worry, these tests are advised only for those aged 40+.

Male Cancer Risk

As well as checking your general health, the Male Cancer Risk health assessment evaluates the risk of developing diseases such as bowel cancer, stomach cancer and prostate cancer. A comprehensive test, The Male Cancer Risk can help detect health issues and disease in the early stages. The check is only recommended for adults aged 40+.

Energy Profile Check

If you are feeling tired all the time and the cause is unclear, it may be worth exploring your vitamin and mineral levels with an Energy Profile Check. Deficiencies in certain micronutrients can lead to tiredness and fatigue. By testing your vitamin and mineral levels, you can address these deficiencies by making changes to your diet.
